Untuk mencari tahu kebenarannya, okezone mencoba menghubungi Manohara. Orang terdekat yang tidak mau disebutkan namanya, tidak menampik foto tersebut.

"Foto itu pas ulang tahun dua tahun lalu. Waktu itu juga ada pejabat lainnya. Jadi saat itu ramai-ramai. Itu waktu perjalanan ke Wakatobi naik perahu. Waktu itu juga sudah ditayangin infotainment Trans 7, ada program Go Spot, dan media lokal juga banyak di situ," kata sumber terdekat saat berbincang dengan okezone, Kamis (2/2/2012).

Sumber meyakini, bahwa foto itu memang sengaja disebar oknum terkait pemilihan putra daerahnya dalam waktu dekat.

"Ya mungkin sekarang mau pilkada," jelasnya.

Dalam foto yang beredar, Manohara tampak seperti berduaan dengan seorang pria mirip gubernur. Padahal sang bunda Daisy Fajriana dan asistennya Reggie, berada di sebelahnya. Selain itu, ada pula pejabat lainnya.
